Lidwell’s Lane, Goudhurst — Bespoke Residential Steel Staircase
This bespoke single-flight steel staircase was developed as an exposed architectural feature for a high-specification self-build residence in Goudhurst.
A total-station survey recorded the landing apertures, floor levels and position of the main wall. This allowed the staircase geometry to be developed for an accurate fit against the building.
The staircase incorporates folded mild-steel treads with countersunk fixings. Black zinc-phosphate primer was retained as the final finish, giving the completed staircase its intended industrial character.
The landing and stringer balustrades were puddle-welded back to the existing structural steelwork, concealing all fixings and creating clean, uninterrupted connections.
Scope: Total-station survey, design development, detailing, fabrication, delivery and installation.
